Application Process

The program accepts applications via the AASLD Application Portal. Interviews will be held exclusively virtually for the 2026-2027 Academic Year.

Up to 3 positions are available each year, either through the traditional pathway (3 years GI + 1 hepatology), or via the accelerated pathway (GI + hepatology in 3 years; open to UCSF GI fellows only).

Requirements for Transplant Hepatology Fellowship:
  • Completed training in gastroenterology
  • Meet the requirements for board eligibility in Gastroenterology at the time of commencement of the fellowship
  • U.S. citizen or permanent resident status
  • Valid California medical license by the commencement of training
