Dr. Arain is an associate clinical professor of medicine in the division of gastroenterology at UCSF with an interest in pancreatico-biliary diseases and advanced endoscopic procedures. Dr. Arain completed his medical education at King's College London and completed residency, gastroenterology fellowship and advanced endoscopy fellowship training at the University of Minnesota where he stayed on as faculty. In 2016, he was recruited to UCSF as director of endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) and to further enhance the advanced endoscopy program at UCSF. Dr. Arain's primary focus has been to emphasize multidisciplinary management of pancreatic and biliary diseases with an emphasis on evidence based approaches. He specializes in advanced endoscopic procedures including EUS, endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) and small bowel enteroscopy. His research has focused on clinical outcomes associated with EUS and ERCP. He enjoys to teach and is the director of the advanced endoscopy fellowship training program at UCSF.
